Kairos Inside @ Avery Mitchell

The purpose of the Kairos Inside program is to establish the Kairos Christian community inside prisons by the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

The Kairos Retreat

The Kairos Inside program brings positive and negative leaders together, in both male and female institutions, for a 3½ day Retreat based on a series of talks, discussions, chapel meditations, and music led by a same gender team of volunteers. While Participants listen to the talks, meditations, chapel visits and music, combined with a lot of listening and loving from the Retreat volunteers, a Christian community will start to form. How YOU Can Participate For many Participants, the Kairos Retreat creates the desire to become a Christian, and for others the desire to continue his/her spiritual growth.

Prayer and Share

After the Kairos Retreat, Prayer and Share accountability groups are held weekly, and Reunions monthly. The ultimate goal of Kairos Inside is to build a Christian community to pray and fellowship together on a weekly basis by nurturing each other in their faith walk and providing accountability. This is the heart of Kairos! As the Kairos Christian community inside a prison grows and begins to gain influence — especially among the formerly negative leaders — the incidence of violence decreases. Incarcerated participants who are released re-enter the outside world with a God centered perspective and a new desire to become productive citizens. Kairos Inside is a front row seat to God’s miracles happening right now at men’s and women’s prisons.

How Can You Participate

Join or Support a Team:

You can become a Kairos Inside volunteer, and participate in the Retreats in the prisons or correctional facilities. Not all volunteer opportunities to serve involve going into a prison.

Pray for Us

Without prayer, a Kairos Retreat cannot happen. We have people like you praying every minute of the Retreat — even all night!

Cook Meals

We need several meals prepared for a typical Kairos Retreat.

Involve Children and Youth

Let children or youth groups draw placemats or wall posters. These drawings often mean the most to those inside prison walls.

Create Agape Posters

Agape can be encouraging letters, posters, placemats and banners addressed to the entire Retreat community as a group. All Agape must be done in prayerful love.

Make a Donation

All Kairos Inside activities are funded by donations. You can make your donation online or send a check to your local Kairos organization.
